Hi all,

I have one and it is great! Currently in the process of fitting the monitors in.

Please consider the need for creating recesses in MIP base to countersink the monitors in.

Also this requires the brackets to which the MIP front panels secure with camlocks, to be moved about 7-8 mm backward to create enough space for the monitors (I will be using 17.3 inch laptop screens (B173HAN04.3) with seperate display controllers) which require ~238-240mm height to be available.

Correct! This is another area where one would need to compromise.

The 17.3inch option minimizes the required height, but when using a 17.3 inch monitor the active area (visible pixels) of this monitor is slightly short, about 3mm, so 1.5mm on each side.

Also consequently, there will be a visibile gap on each side which needs to be solved. I plan on filling these with a 3D printed bezel around the monitor and additonally covering this bezel with one or two layers of ND filters and then smoked plexiglas. On top would come the regular grey display unit bezels, I will use aluminium FlyEngravity ones.

Conclusion would be: this solution will not buy you time when using OEM parts. It will likely cost you more time adapting than the time you would finally save being able to just slide in the OEM panels . But it does like nice ;)
